Our History
Western Hills Baptist Church was first organized in May 1965 as a mission church. The mission was sponsored by Parker Street Baptist Church in Mineral Wells. Brother Jerry Hodges of Seymour, Texas pastored WHBC as its first pastor in July of 1972.
Western Hills has taken many forms over the years. At one point, our Fellowship Hall used to be the major sanctuary for the church. God has blessed the church with multiple building programs, remodels, evangelistic models, worship transitions, and everything else that was needed to reach the Lost more effectively in the Wichita Falls area.
Our pastor, Richard Allen, has served Western Hills for almost a decade. He had previously served at Lakeside City as their Youth Director before pastoring Pleasant Valley Baptist Church for seventeen years.
Our Pastors Testimony
My name is Richard "Rick" Allen. I was raised in a Catholic home and attended church regularly. I even served as an altar boy. At the age of 13, my mother passed away of an untimely cancer. In my frustration, I left the church with much anger towards God and turned to drugs and alcohol. After several years, I was invited to a small Baptist church where the Lord showed me mercy. It was there that I found a personal relationship with my Savior Jesus Christ.
My first steps into ministry were with the Youth. I served as a Youth Director for five years before stepping into the pulpit as a supply preacher for various churches in the Wichita Falls area. I have now been in the pastoring ministry for over 25 years.
My life verse is Romans 5:8 which says "But God demonstrates His own love towards us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
